PROJECT JAPAN - Tokyo - Dogenzaka (Shibuya) - Sewer Cover Trivet

Sewers of the World by Vernakular is a project that examines the diversity and beauty of the ubiquitous, yet overlooked sewer covers we find all over the world. Vernakular has scoured over 75 cities and 20 different countries (and counting), in search of interesting sewer covers.

PROJECT JAPAN
We are captivated by the creativity of many of the sewer covers in Japan. If you look closely, the Tokyo - Dogenzaka sewer cover trivet features a man and a dog running. The text - DOG-EN-SAKA - on the sewer cover is playful nod to Hachiko, faithful dog who became a symbol of loyalty in Japan.

The imagery on the trivets is stunningly realistic appearing almost three-dimensional. A great conversation piece.
